Pep talk in it's real sense is a sporting terminology which is not alien to sports men and its enormous effect on their life and performance is inestimable. It's also found in the entertainment industry; it is that talk, advice or counsel given to a performer or a sports man in the middle of his performance or appearance. It is so vital that it determines the extent to which an athlete goes either to achieve success or otherwise.
The impact of the Pep Talk is so much that it is what determines the outcome of every sporting event. Be it a performer, sportsman, an athlete or footballer or a business man, we all need pep talks.
What Pep Talk does is to stir up the best in you in the middle of your appearance, when an athlete or a team is performing below par or not measuring up to task, the Pep Talk becomes expedient and of utmost importance but most recent is; when the performer is on the verge of victory or success; the Pep Talk intervenes to remind the athlete of the goal ahead and the price to pay to achieve victory without losing momentum.
This then brings to mind one of the greatest come backs of all time in the history of European football and European champions league; the final between Liverpool Fc and AC Milan, those WHO remember this match will understand better the power and importance of Pep Talks.
Liverpool 3 AC Milan 3 Champions League final 2005
Some Liverpool fans had started to leave the Ataturk Stadium at half-time after a first minute goal from Paolo Maldini and two from Hernan Crespo had given Milan a 3-0 half-time lead. But
the game was spun on its axis in a frenetic spell that saw Steven Gerrard, Vladimir Smicer and Xabi Alonso level before Jerzy Dudek gave it the
'spaghetti legs' in a penalty shoot out before saving from Andrea Pirlo and Andrei Shevchenko to complete the 'Miracle of Istanbul'.
However, those are not the only footballing comebacks but behind it all is a turnaround spurred on by the manager's Pep Talk.
In football, the Pep Talk is that short chat between the manager and his team at half time, right in the middle of the match and we all know that a good Pep Talk makes a good manager because that's what determines his team's performance which is the overall essence of the Pep Talk.
In this case therefore, we all know that every team has a owner, a manager, management & technical teams as well as the players. In our context, God is the team owner, Christ the manager and the head of the technical and management team is the Holy spirit and I am the privileged team captain whose job is to remind us all of the highlight of the manager's Pep Talk as they all behold us perform on the field. God I you and may the Holy spirit interpret his word in your heart.
